Frequently asked

What people ask most

The questions that come up most often before the interview. If yours is not here, tell us.

01

About the exam

How hard is the interview?

It tests the speaking and listening you need for daily life in Korea. There is no difficult vocabulary or complex grammar. What catches people out is having to listen and answer on the spot — the more you have studied only in writing, the more surprising that feels.

How long does it take?

Usually around ten minutes. The waiting takes far longer.

Can I take it again if I fail?

Yes, you can reapply. The procedure and waiting period vary by period and jurisdiction, so check your notice and your local immigration office.

Do I really have to sing the anthem?

Singing the first verse is part of the process. It is not a singing test — it checks that you know the words. Being off-key is fine.

02

About preparing

How long should I prepare?

It varies. If you already hold everyday conversations in Korean, a few days may be enough. If listening is hard for you, allow a few weeks. What matters is not the number of days but how many times you have answered out loud.

Can I just memorize the answers in writing?

The answer in your head and the answer that comes out of your mouth are not the same. Only the ones you have actually said will come out on the day. That is why speaking, not typing, is the default here.

My pronunciation is not good. Is that a problem?

Perfect pronunciation is not required. Being understood is. Do not rush — slow and clear carries much better than fast.

About this service

Is it free?

You can practise straight away without signing up. Some features may become paid later, but basic practice stays open.

What happens to my recordings?

They are sent to the server, turned into text for scoring, and then discarded. Nothing is stored unless you agree to it. Questions that ask for personal details, like your home address, are never sent to the server at all — they are handled on your device.

Are you connected to the Ministry of Justice?

No. This is a private learning service with no connection to any government body. The questions are written by us, based on publicly available material.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. It runs in the browser, and once you allow microphone access you can answer out loud.
